Shoe and Undergarment Collection Drive

SHOE AND UNDERGARMENT DRIVE

SEPTEMBER 1-30, 2024

Our hearts go out to help our neighbors in need, especially our youngest children.  Every year, thousands of children in the Broward County School System experience homelessness.  The Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale, in collaboration with the City of Fort Lauderdale and other local partners, is collecting new and gently used shoes and new undergarments for Fort Lauderdale elementary schools.  Our school liaisons will distribute your generous donations with other school supplies and minimum necessities for a dignified, safe, and healthy life to homeless families in need.

Click here to shop our Rotary Kids Clothing Drive wish list on Amazon.  Be sure to select
Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale c/o Jorg Hruschka's Gift Registry Address.

To donate or start your own donation drive, contact Jorg Hruschka at [email protected]

100 N. Andrews Avenue
Fort Lauderdale

Every Child Reads – Nothing Else Matters!  Please join our Rotary Club team to restock 5-10 of Fort Lauderdale’s 126 Little Free Libraries. Each year caring volunteers collect and distribute over 50,000 age-appropriate books to ensure that every child learns to read at the end of third grade. The team will meet around 9:00 am at the city hall parking garage, 100 N. Andrews Ave.  Volunteers are asked to use their personal vehicles to refill the libraries along a predetermined route.

To R.S.V.P. or learn more about the program, contact team leader Jorg Hruschka at [email protected].

BASIC EDUCATION AND LITERACY MONTH

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population.

Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.
